A critical review of Christopher Andrew's masterly "The Defence of the Realm – the authorized history of MI 5" – a find the review a trifle harsh, for instance on the social background of MI5 staff, something which is substantially discussed by Andrew. The reviewer might be more on target on the Harold Wilson episode though – I'd like to read more on this.
